POLICY CONCERNING ILLNESS IN CHILD CARE

Here at Zion Child Care Center, we strive to accommodate all of our parents and their children. However, as much as we want to, we cannot care for a sick child. A child who is sick requires a lot of special attention, a quiet environment, lots of fluids, and the nurturing care which only a family member can give. A sick child should also be seen by a doctor as soon as possible so that the nature of the illness can be evaluated
and treated.

Please read the following guidelines very carefully and thoroughly.  Any child who comes into child care with any of the following symptoms will not be permitted to stay.

1.   A child with sticky, red, watery eyes.
2.   A child with a fever of 100 or higher.
3.   A child who was given medicine by the parents prior to
coming into child care because he/she was not feeling well.
4.   A child who was vomiting before coming into child care.
5.   A child with a constant runny nose.
6.   A child with a rash.
7.   A child with a persistent cough.

Any child who becomes ill after coming into child care will be sent home for the following symptoms:

1.   Diarrhea which cannot be contained in a diaper or by the child’s use of the toilet.
2.   A child with a fever of 100 or higher who is not physically active.
3.   A child who throws up more than once.
4.   Persistent or excessive crying.
5.   Uncontrollable coughing.
6.   Difficulty breathing.
7.   A child who complains of severe pain.
8.   Neck pain when the child’s head is touched or moved.
9.   A child with a stiff neck and headache.
10. A rash or hives which appears and spreads quickly.
11. Unusual drowsiness.

All of these guidelines are being used to protect the health and well—being of your child, as well as all the other children enrolled in our center, and will be strictly followed.

Please make sure you have a back-up form of child care available in the event that your child will not be able to come to Zion.
